Choose How to Join the Meeting

When the Zoom page loads, you’ll be given two options:

Option 1: Open the Zoom App (Recommended)

If you already have the Zoom app installed, click “Open Zoom Meetings” when prompted. This will automatically open the meeting in the app.

If you don’t have the app installed, Zoom will prompt you to download it. Follow the steps to download and install the app (this is a one-time setup). Once installed, reopen the link, and click “Open Zoom Meetings.”

Option 2: Join from Your Browser

If you don’t want to download the app, look for the link that says “Join from your browser” (usually below the “Download and run Zoom” button). Click it to join directly through your web browser.

Tip: If you plan to join multiple meetings in the future, downloading the Zoom app is the easiest way to connect quickly.

Enter Your Name

Whether using the app or your browser, you’ll be asked to enter your name.

Type in your name so the host and participants know who you are during the meeting.

Grant Permissions for Audio and Video

You may see a pop-up asking you to allow Zoom to access your microphone and camera. Click “Allow” so others can hear and see you during the meeting. If you prefer not to use your camera, you can skip enabling it.

Join the meeting

Once permissions are granted, you’ll either be taken directly into the meeting or see a message like “Waiting for the host to start the meeting.” If the host hasn’t started the meeting yet, just wait for them to begin.

Familiarize yourself with Zoom Controls

Once inside the meeting, you’ll see a few key controls:
